Sacramento is located approximately 25 miles of northeast of Sacramento. It was originally called "Orange Vale or Orange Vale Colony", named after the many orange groves found in its agricultural lands and by its colonizing company. Gradually it became known as Sacramento even though often referred to as "The Vale".

With it's natural beauty and abundance of water, the orange groves, vineyards and other fruit tree orchards has flourished although in 1930, difficulty struck it's agriculture when a frigid winter devastated nearly all the orange groves and other produce. Aside from orange groves, an abundance of olive orchards also once occupied much of the area. Some of these original trees can still be found in the area of Chestnut Ave., Sacramento, Main, and Walnut Ave.
